I don’t plan to be a grandmother for quite a while, but at an MLM shampoo party tonight, I learned my friend’s sister-in-law is called “Bamma” by her grandkids and holy hell if that isn’t the best Grandma name ever! So I’m writing this here so I can find it later. My grandchild, who I assume will be a boy (because it’s like when you get a dog, whatever gender the dog is, you assume all dogs are that gender) is going to call me “Bamma Jody”. And we can all sing “She’s a Bad Mamma Jamma” at every family gathering. I’m going to totally rock my new name!
I just hit the one-year anniversary of my podcast, Adventures in Jodysitting, and I’m shocked.. SHOCKED… that I didn’t give up on it the way I have so many other things. Now if only the 11 listeners could each pony up a hundred thousand dollars, we’d be talking wild success.
If you haven’t listened to the podcast recently, or at all, I think episodes 26 and 27 are pretty good. If you listen to them, the numbers will bump up, and I will be a happy girl. I mean, it’s up to you, but don’t you like happy girls?
I own 6 wigs. Two of them are in transit. This is what happens when you agree to cosplay as a 1960s TV icon and can’t quite find the perfect wig. The cosplaying happens SOON™️ so I’m just going to have to settle.
I will probably donate three of the wigs to some theater company, if they want them. 3 I’m keeping because they are fun. You know me, I love to have fun. I just don’t know if I have the self confidence to have fun in a rainbow wig.
As we all continue to embrace the world of reusable water bottles and travel mugs, I wanted to take a few moments to share my continued wonder and amazement at the Corkcicle line of products. Previously documented here as my pick for best travel mug, I now own one of their sports bottles, and have a review for you. I provide this service for free, for people who place “keeping things cold” high on their criteria for this kind of product.
I should state up-front I don’t use this bottle for sports, even though it is a sports bottle. That said, should some sports break out around me, I will be prepared to hydrate. Last night when I was rushing to get home, I tossed the Not-empty bottle into a desk drawer instead of emptying it first. The screw top would prevent issues.
Yesterday I opened the bottle at 1pm, 20-21 hours after the last time I filled it, and IT STILL HAD ICE IN IT. I am a Corkcicle believer, with multiple travel mugs that are so good at keeping coffee hot I have to add an ice cube if I want to drink it on my entire 50 minute commute.
I bought mine at The Paper Store for $27, and Amazon has them for around the same price with discounts. If you live near a Paper Store, they regularly have 50% off coupons in their catalogs.
A week and a half ago, baby bunnies became part of the family when Mama Bunny lost her mind and created a nest next to the house within the fenced in backyard my dog uses as his personal Rest Area.
We discovered the nest after Phantom discovered the nest, which was a Very Bad Thing. But three babies remained and we kept a close watch on the nest, wondering when they would be big enough to leave the nest so we wouldn’t have to supervise the dog.
I checked on them on Father’s Day, using a yardstick to move the covering so my smell wouldn’t be near them. I counted three that day. One night Phantom chased the mom across the yard, and I nearly had a heart attack.
Yesterday, Michael and I were returning home from an errand and saw an adult rabbit had been killed by a car on a fairly busy street very close to ours. My heart sunk, because I just knew it was the mother. I had no proof, but I assumed that was the end of my not being involved.
A friend provinces a link to a website for dealing with sick and injured animals in Mass, and I called one of the numbers. I was referred to a 2nd person who gave us advise for determining if the mom had been to the nest to nurse at the regular dawn and dusk times. We put the string on top and prayed it would be disturbed by her when we checked it, but unfortunately, it was pretty clear she had missed the two feedings.
I called back the woman [licensed by the state to] take in abandoned baby animals and arranged to drop off our bunnies. It was wonderful to see them out of the nest, and know this woman would release them in few weeks when they can survive on their own. She said we can come back to visit, so I plan to, with cash to cover their Timothy hay and formula bill.
We also got to pet a baby possum and see the 8 woodchucks and 3 squirrels she’s currently fostering. God bless this lady and her animal-loving heart!
I have a few videos for the past 1.5 weeks, including the handoff, at my photography website, Maple Barn Photo.
