We’re Alive and Well

Irene is filling my yard with water and leaves, but nothing more dangerous than that. I did take a video of our sump pump with my iPhone, just to show you how much water is pouring into my basement right now.

Soon, we will start eating our emergency food supplies, burning candles and using anything that requires AA batteries. Just because we can. I think we can make the switch from the local news to the marathon of Power Rangers movies that Fox Movie Channel is featuring today. I mean, if anything is going to make one feel better about the current weather situation, it’s knowing that you don’t have to worry about Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd as long as the Power Rangers are on the job!

For those of you looking for exciting video, I present a brief video of my sump pump saving my basement.

Jody Movie for You

Here’s a little something I created yesterday. I’ll post the other one in a day or two. You know, spreading out the love.

Festival of Lights

I am sad to announce that I will not be able to decorate my house to the level that I would like to this holiday season. I would like to cover the house with so many lights that you can see it from space. Sure, the neighbors might not like it, but really, who can stay angry at twinkly lights? Nobody, that’s who!

I don’t own enough lights to accomplish my dream, nor do I have the manpower available to me to do it. I guess it will have to wait until after I become rich and famous. And have a lot more energy to do stuff like this.

I also pulled out the two shrubs that I normally put lights on every year. That seemed like a good idea until I realized I can’t put lights out on these shrubs any more because they aren’t there any more. Huh.

So last year, during the January “everything 75% off” sale at Target I bought a little fiber optic tree. Last week I tracked it down so we could see how tall it was. Not tall enough to use as our only tree, not by a long shot. But of course, now that it’s set up, I think I’ll leave it, just so I have a little something to make me happy. And here it is:

Jones’ Big Ass Truck Rental & Storage

Thank You For Thinking About Voting

To be fair, this guy has every right to choose to vote the way he ended up voting. On the other hand, the reason bothers me. A lot. Without giving away the plot, I think it’s pretty interesting that he got to be as old as he is and was honestly surprised when the kindly people at the polling places had to set him straight.

A Video for Friday

I know I don’t really maintain the podcast any more (mostly because my mac.com site expired) so this would be turned into a podcast if I still had one. Which I don’t. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t watch this video to make the hit count go up which would make me feel pretty good about myself. I’m just saying.

Here we have Junior and Phantom, doing a bit of a duet.

A Mini Space Movie by M & M

My son had a sleepover here last night and all he got me was a short video movie he made with his friend. The file is stored over at flickr (they do video now too) and I think MAYBE you can download this one to watch on your iPod. I’m not sure if it will let everyone, or just me because it’s in my account. Actually, can someone let me know? If you can’t, I can try to upload the M4V version here with a link. Because I know you want to watch this daily on your iPod or iPhone. I know I do.

Today’s "Video Clip that Made Jody Cry"

I’m such a sap. This is the kind of thing that makes my husband laugh at me, which is why I cannot watch Field of Dreams with him any more. It doesn’t matter how many times I watch it, I always cry.

This is a link to a video of two guys a the lion they raised from a cub until they released him into the wild. This video is 40 years old, put to a modern soundtrack – you can watch without sound. Very safe for work unless you’re the kind of person who cries watching Magic Kingdom commercials when the kids see Mickey for the first time. Ya, that’s me too.

My New Ringtone

[*Updated to fix the broken links*]

I rule. I now have the Mr. Deity theme song as my ringtone, just like Mr. Deity does (except when he has Elton John’s “The Bitch is Back”).

“Who is Mr. Deity?” you ask?

Mr. Deity may be the greatest thing since sliced bread. If you really want a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to be The Deity and to create the heavens and earth and whether or not we’re really supposed to take Sundays off, you should hike over to the Mr. Deity site and either watch the copies there or download the podcast to take it with you wherever you go on your video-enabled iPod.

I’m still floored that something this good is available for free.

Mortified: Angst Written

Ask anyone who wrote a journal (or letters) when they were a pre-teen or a teenager and they will tell you it was deep and meaningful and captured the deep and important moments of one’s life. Okay, so fast forward and read some of those journal entries and cringe, baby. Wait, you didn’t write one? Well you have to go share the love at Mortified: Angst Written.

This site is a multi-media journal karaoke for the ages. Real people (some celebs, some not) read from their original journals. The real words. The real feelings. It is as funny as you might imagine.

I doubled over with laughter watching this month’s featured video. Real Live Actors perform a script written back when the author was 15. Kevin McDonald’s part made me weep with laughter (I love his work, but the lines he was given were the real star here.)

So that’s my fun link for the weekend. And don’t even tell me that it doesn’t make you want to go look for your old notebooks and journals!
