I get a flu shot tomorrow, but not the piggy or the swan flu shot. This is just regular old, "nobody cares about me because I don't have a cool name and make the papers" flu shot. I am just hoping to get through the day and maybe not have any side effects from the flu shot. Like, say, the flu.
I was in a room today with a woman who sounded like she had gargled with Cup 'O Virus. Thanks SO MUCH for being such a dedicated employee, and for entering the little piece of heaven that was the windowless and airless computer lab I was housed in. We all appreciated those noises you were making with your sinuses and your throat. So if I DO get sick, I'm going to assume it was because of her, and not because of the flu shot. Unless it would get me more time off to say it was from the shot, in which case it most certainly was. posted by Jody Permalink | 0 comments Tuesday, April 28, 2009
My bout with swan flu, characterized by an urge to eat Kettle Korn and a lack of energy when it comes to dragging my sorry ass out of bed in the morning, appears to be improving. I believe this can be attributed to my making a meal that involved cream of mushroom soup last night. Depression set in, however, when I realized that I forgot to bring the leftover in to work this morning, thus leaving me leftoverless. I certainly hope this does not cause a setback in my rapid recovery path.
As for the visitors stopping by from Universal Hub, I thank you for your kind concern and your page hits. Do feel free to follow me on Twitter. You know, at least until I'm out of the swan flu woods. Or the swan flu meadow. Labels: illness posted by Jody Permalink | 2 comments Monday, April 27, 2009
I think I have swan flu. I've been reading about it in the paper, don't you know. It sounds very bad but in reality, if you have swan flu you cough a lot and want to sleep in on Monday mornings. I have both of those symptoms. I'm very concerned that my swan flu will be catchy, so I am trying to avoid doing yard work, which I believe will make the swan flu worse.
You should thank me for being so concerned about spreading my germs. posted by Jody Permalink | 2 comments Friday, January 23, 2009
Something's gotten into the dog. Maybe literally. I'm very very excited about this development, because now I'm going to be a day behind on stuff at work, plus I won't get to do anything fun this weekend. My birthday weekend. He was on antibiotics but they ended Tuesday, so this is a little too far for it to be a direct result of that. I was actually thinking how great it was that he didn't get sick from the meds, as it was a stated side effect.
He is sitting on a towel on the other end of the couch. He isn't looking at me. He looks so sad. Maybe he would have looked like that on a normal day. I know he's mad at me because I had to take his food and water bowls away from him, per the vet. They want nothing going in for 12 hours. He just stood next to where the bowls are supposed to be and looked at me. And looked at me. I feel like such a creep, but doctor's orders and all that. I was hoping whatever it was worked its way out at the doggie daycare before I picked him up, but he yakked twice on the way out to the car. Maybe THAT was the last time. I hope. Please God, I have no desire to clean up this type of mess. ugh. posted by Jody Permalink | 2 comments Monday, February 11, 2008
Okay, not me, Junior. Although he seems to be doing better today than yesterday. But he can't go back to school tomorrow because he had a fever today. He's actually upset that he can't go to school, not because of his burning love of school work and math lessons, but because he misses his friends. And apparently at aftercare he was supposed to join a club somehow related to Tech Decks (those little tiny skateboards). I don't have all the details on that one, but I'm sure I'll hear all about it eventually.
I am about done with the children's programming. He had no interest in doing anything but crashing on the couch. I made him watch the Food Network for a while thinking that it might help him take a nap but he actually got more animated and chatty about Rachel Ray's cooking show than he did about any cartoon. (We came to an agreement that no way no how would we want to eat the "hot dog salad" she made today. Gah.) So wish us luck. I have to have my mom watch him tomorrow and I didn't want to do that but maybe he's getting past the contagious stage. Mr. Dump and I are convinced we won't be able to avoid getting what he has, based on the past three days. Yay. Labels: cooking, illness, junior, Rachel Ray posted by Jody Permalink | 1 comments |
