Old Domains

Since I started buying domains 28 or so years ago, I’ve owned quite a few that I chose to let go, and others that I forgot to renew. It’s not good when that happens. It’s not good when that happens and it’s an active domain. Yes, I lost the good short version url for my podcast. Over a year ago. I’m still bitter.

See, I’ve been waiting for the Asian porn site that bought it to realize how little traffic the site had, and let it go. It was up for renewal in December. Finally! Then…they renewed it. Even though it doesn’t resolve right now (or is such a horror show that my phone just pretends it can’t find it.)

I still own the longer full name of the podcast but I preferred the shorter one and damn it, I want it back! WordPress keeps trying to tell me there’s something wrong with it but I can’t log in to repoint the site because they can’t email me because I don’t have that email address any more. I really hosed myself.

I was looking at some of the other domains one can buy, and as much as I think some are cool, I’m not paying the prices they are asking. And who bought the .quest version of the domain? And what are they questing for?

More Weird Food on the Podcast

This one is too good to not share. I made a Pork and Beans Cake for my podcast, Adventures in Jodysitting. You should go listen, and then you can make your own by skipping over to Allrecipes.

I don’t want to put words in the mouths of the folks who ate it (you can hear them in the episode) but most of the people who tried it finished their pieces, and that’s praise enough for me.

Not a Newbie Any More

I just hit the one-year anniversary of my podcast, Adventures in Jodysitting, and I’m shocked.. SHOCKED… that I didn’t give up on it the way I have so many other things. Now if only the 11 listeners could each pony up a hundred thousand dollars, we’d be talking wild success.

If you haven’t listened to the podcast recently, or at all, I think episodes 26 and 27 are pretty good. If you listen to them, the numbers will bump up, and I will be a happy girl. I mean, it’s up to you, but don’t you like happy girls?

Is it time to Podcast Again?

I’m down to zero web hits a day. I learned there was a WordPress setting I’d never noticed that hid my site from search engines, which is kind of the opposite of what I want. I’d like to be the top hit for such classic search terms as

“Not Goonies, the other one” *

“How to cook dinosaur meat” and

“The best Jody in the universe”

I had a video podcast in 2008 that was wiped off the face of the earth when I stopped paying for the mac.com account that hosted the files. Apparently. It’s okay, because nobody needed to see me sitting on my bed talking about how many pairs of green pants I owned. [Newsflash: Too many! 2017 update: None at present!]

Maybe that’s a GOOD thing to podcast. Maybe that minutiae (or as we call it around here, “thought pebbles”) is what will help someone choose life. Chose to get up and fight the good fight. Make the donuts. I think anyone reading this because they wanted to know what the other movie was that wasn’t the Goonies (Shit, I don’t know, I didn’t even see that one. Are you thinking of Stand By Me? 12 Angry Men? Little Mermaid?) would also need a podcast by me because clearly I am going to improve your life.

I will have to get on that.

*I swear to God, this came up when I typed “not the goon”** in Google. The results are all about The Goonies. Not the other one.

**It’s complicated
