Too Busy For You People

Doesn’t that sound nasty? I don’t mean it that way. I’m just trying to catch up on some stuff that has fallen by the wayside, and now I won’t be around most of tomorrow so that gives me one day LESS than I had before. Fun, huh?

Oh, and Christine, the asterisk key thing doesn’t work for me because that key moves me one space to the left. I need to try to find the little book that came with the phone, obviously. But also obviously, I have no idea where it is.

Now That I Have Moment…

Okay, Junior has now eaten his weight in bananas, so I have a moment to type. (That would be 3 bananas. And some cereal, apple sauce and two waffles. Apparently the tape worm is back).

Okay, was having a discussion with Junior’s dad about whether or not voice actors/actresses could be eligable for Best [Actor/Actress] Academy Awards (yes, I thought Ellen was THAT good). I said that she was as good in that role as Tim Allen was as Buzz Lightyear, but I didn’t recall him being up for Best Actor. He said that Ellen would be considered a best Actress because she was the lead female, but that Tim Allen would only be best supporting, because Tom Hanks was the main male character.

I claim that in a movie you could have three best actors if there were three leads (i.e. equal billing, equal presense on screen) but that many movie companies choose to split the actors into best actor and best supporting just so they won’t be competing with each other. So here’s the question: If the voice actors from Toy Story were able to run for Acadamy Awards, what category(ies) would they be in?

We Found Nemo

Cute move, but even big brave Junior was clinging to me during part of it. I liked it. Ellen DeGeneres ROCKS as Dory. Oh my God, she’s amazing. If they ever decide to do a sequel it has to be about Dory.

This Rain Means Business

We had a string of good days this past week, so I’m not upset that last night and this morning we had rain. And this was REAL rain, not that wimpy stuff we’d been having. They actually said it was going to be a n’oreaster, which is one of those nasty storms we are so famous for. Actually that just refers to the direction of the wind – it normally doesn’t come from the northeast and when it does, lookout. Lots of snow (or rain), beach erosion, etc. When it’s a n’oreaster I have to put the glass up in the storm door because otherwise my floor gets all wet when I open the door. And I made sure I took down the flag.

We got up late this morning because it was SO dark out. Kind of feels fun, actually. To celebrate, we’re going to see Finding Nemo today!

Cool Par-tay

I have to give my brother-in-law credit…he knows how to throw a great kids party. Today was the joint party for the 3yo and the 5yo, and there was a moonwalk (shaped like a birthday cake, which looked really funny when you came down the street) and Bob’s piece-de-resistance, a homemade wooden ramp and a gigantic container of Lego pieces. Hundreds and hundreds of them. Each kid (there were 17, I believe) could make a car and then run them down the ramp. No formal soap-box derby (which was good because some kids cracked when their cars didn’t make it off the jump, never mind losing a race) but a blast for the kids to learn what worked best to get the cars flying. We learned they needed weight but couldn’t be too top-heavy, for one thing.

Anyway, this idea came from the Lego store down in Disney Marketplace. He bought the Lego wheel set at their online store which was enough wheels to make 36 vehicles, I believe. VERY fun stuff. In fact, right now Junior and I have his Legos (the few we have that are regular Legos and no Duplos) out on the table, makingnew cars with the wheels on the car he got to take home.
