Staying In For VD

Junior and I are not going out this evening. He’s low on funds, and well, it’s friggin cold out there. Like way below zero nose freezing cold. I am so DONE with the wind chill. We were going to go to Barnes and Noble but I decided we’re in for the night. We’ve already been out most of the day – he had his first swim lesson this morning (EXCELLENT job, handled it like a pro! I love his swim instructor, I think that’s the kind of guy Junior needs to get over his loathing of getting his face wet) and then we spent the rest of the day with his cousins. I’m tired, actually. I still haven’t shaken enough of this illness…actually right now I feel like just a teeny bit worse than yesterday. I don’t think I got enough sleep last night.

Anyway, my suggestion for anyone staying in is to watch Nickelodeon at 9pm tonight for a brand new Fairly Oddparents Love-themed show. I love Fairly Oddparents…it’s one of the best shows on tv, bar none. So it’s a new one and I think you should all take a moment to enjoy it!

p.s. Yes, I got flowers today – from my niece and nephew. My sister let them pick the flowers out, and I got some little purple flowers that are usually meant to be used as filler in a bouquet, like statice (?). However, my niece insisted on these for me, because we both like purple and I love them SO much more because she insisted on them! Thanks sweetie!

New Music

I participated in a “share your music” exchange with some friends. Burn a CD of some stuff you own, that you think others should be explosed to, and share the CD. Maybe people will find a new singer/band and will buy some new music.

The CDs were mailed out. I just put one in, and the first song on the first one I picked? I’m already thinking of checking out the band a little more. Jellyfish. Okay, just got back from Amazon. In some of the reviews for one of their CDs (“Spilt Milk”) there are comments about Queen and ELO being influences, and one song sounding like an Alan Parsons Project style song. I mean, if you wanted to sell me on a group, these words would do it.

This War Thing

Okay, it’s really starting to depress and scare me. I don’t like it, not one bit. I don’t like that bin laden has these psycho people just waiting for him to give the secret message before they do some stupid action against us. I hate having to sit here, reading about duct tape and plastic sheeting and have to think “Do I have any? Do I want to look stupid and go buy some? Will a tarp and garbage bags work?”

And then, how do you decide what room you are going to seal up? I was considering the spare bedroom, which is on the 2nd floor, because it only has one window. But there’s so much crap in that room that we couldn’t even sit down, never mind sleep in there. So maybe my bedroom is a better choice because there’s a queen-sized bed.

But this three-day thing. I mean, why do we need to hole up for three days? Why not two? Why not four? If we enter a room and seal it up, we can’t leave it for three days? How long do I have to get my gallon jugs of water, canned goods and manual can opener into my bedroom and get it sealed up? Will there be a grace period? My normal storage for canned goods, etc. is either in a closet in the 1st floor bathroom/laundry room or down in the basement. Maybe it would be better to head for the basement cause the canned goods are already down there. There’s no bed, though, and it’s even further from the bathroom. I suppose we have to go potty in the sealed up room, huh? That will be pleasant. I just thought of a brand-new use for all my Tupperware.

Okay, I’m done talking about this for today. I’m even done thinking about it. I am the type that freaks over impending bad weather, so you can imagine I’m just handling all this so well. I’m sure my town is not the target, and I’ve got nothing to worry about, right? Right.
