Hey, Thanks Everyone!

I just saw the final numbers for my Q3 Amazon Associate account and it looks like I made a whole 47.49 this quarter! That’s awesome stuff, given that the amount of money I pay to run the Big DumpTruck website recently doubled (well THAT’S not a pleasant surprise!). Silly me, I forgot to make a lot of money during the dot.com boom, and even though I’ve been running the site since 1996, I’ve never made any profit. Not a dime. But I guess it’s a less expensive hobby than, say, world travel.

So kids, now that it’s getting time for holiday shopping, stop by the blog or the main dump before you head over to Amazon, Click on the Amazon Link, and you’ll be helping me. Oh, and if you want to buy a fifty dollar book or something, drop me a line and I’ll build you a custom link so I’ll get a little extra. Thanks. You’re all swell.

Countdown to Jonah

With a complete lack of anything else meaningful to do I am in prep mode for the release of Jonah this weekend. I suspect that I’m too excited and it will have to disappoint me. I’m willing to risk it.

I found a copy of the soundtrack to Jonah on sale and picked it up. Oh my gosh, what fun! There were some people complaining on Amazon that the songs aren’t all done by the Veggie gang, but I have to tell you, my two favorite songs on the soundtrack are done by real contemporary Christian rock/pop bands. Now My CC collection begins and ends with Michael W. Smith, but I’m not averse to expanding my horizons. Either way, the song “In the Belly of the Whale” by the Newsboys should be on every radio station’s playlist in a few weeks. That is an AWESOME song. Great writing, great production, I just love it.

Okay, enough about that. I need to start thumbing through a book I bought on web-based training. I know that writing blog entries is more fun, but that’s actually career-building stuff.

Fantasy Bazeball

Well, I didn’t end up in last place. My team, the Bench Warmers, who spent the first few weeks of the season in 1st place, finished up in 8th. Just when I finally got my team straightened out, the season ended. I swear, next year I’m going to do better. Hell, I did better this year because of things I learned last year. But one of my biggest flaws is that I leave people in too long. If one of my players has a great May, his June AND July can stink before I pull him out. Next year, I’m going to be better, I swear.

My Fantasy Football team, by the way, is in 5th place. I may drop to 6th after the Monday Night game, but hey, it’s not last place. Oh, but uh, it’s not if you win or lose, right? As long as my QB doesn’t throw 4 interceptions again next week, I’ll be happy.

Project Greenlight

There is just no way I’m going to finish this script by Wednesday. Or it would be finished (barely) but not edited, and that certainly isn’t going to impress anyone. I guess maybe I’ll keep working but I’ve got SO many more pages to write…it needs to be a minimum of 80, and well, I’m not there yet. Not even close (Okay, I’ve only got 8 completed pages). I thought I had until Thursday, but I only have until Wednesday. PLUS you have to fill out an application, pay $30, and also register your script with two different organizations (to protect your copyright) which I’m sure costs money as well.

I’m kind of sad that I didn’t get it finished, I certainly had enough time to do it, I just didn’t have it at the top of my To Do list.

Well, I’m not wasting the beautiful weather of the next three days only to find out I don’t have the money to do this OR a completed script that I think stands a chance. So I’m going to go pumpkin picking today. It won’t be as exciting as yesterday, but that’s okay too.
