Archives

You know, working on this stuff at 10 o’clock at night just isn’t going to work. I sat and stared and sat and stared and I just couldn’t figure out what I’d done wrong. And then I couldn’t figure out where I’d stored a file that I know I saved the other night…the one with the old BDT template. Grrrr. So do I want to piece it back together (not necessarily as hard as it sounds, except for one piece) just so the old archives have the old look and feel, or do I say “to heck with it” and have all the archives use the new template. Which is kind of how it is right now.

And for goodness’ sake, what the hell was I thinking when I replaced the template in the blogging software for the “old” content? Okay, I know what I was thinking, because I’d JUST republished the archives. Or so I thought.

I know, you don’t care. But it’s raining for the 4th straight day, and you’d rather me not crab about the weather, right?

Old Joke

Mr. Dump had never heard the following; I was more than happy to be the one to introduce him to the classics.

Q: If April Showers bring May Flowers, what do May Flowers bring?

A: Pilgrims.

I may have been a little goofy at the time I told it, because it gave me giggle fits last night. I was also using an Elmer Fudd voice. I’m not sure why.

Happy Switch the Calendar Day!

Time to change the page on all the calendars in your life. Today we have a picture of a maple sugar house, steaming away out in the middle of the woods. Can you just smell it? I can.

We took Junior to a farm where they were sugaring, but he was less than interested. They had geese and chickens in a pen nearby and that was FAR more interesting.

The write-up for this picture says that this photo was taken in Ashfield MA, and it was once the center of the peppermint industry. Huh? Get out! For the whole country? That’s cool. Something to maybe do a little research on, anyway. Massachusetts ranks 8th among the major maple sugar producing states. I would have put us higher than that, but there you go. I wouldn’t guess we were higher than Vermont, NH and Maine, and I know my friend’s grandfather used to make maple sugar in upper New York state.

Damn. Now I want some waffles.

Winter Games

My goodness, it’s hard to entertain the three kids when it’s just too danged cold to let then play outside. We tried red light green light and that got a little too out of control so now we’re doing “talking red light green light.” Talk until we say to stop. I have to tell you, my motormouth beats everyone hands-down, and my strategy is to do me Junior imitation.

This Space for Rent

I was trying to think of something great and profound because this is, after all, the first post of 2004. But I’ve got nuthin. I spent 2 hours building a MegaBlox Power Rangers Command Center thing. 215 individual pieces. I used more brain cells than I usually do at work! (If my boss is reading this, that’s an exaggeration. Really.)

Off to buy invitations for junio’s birthday party. I can’t believe my baby is a big 6 year old. *sigh*
