"Avoid Sitting"

I’m having a minor health issue which is a result of a side effect of medication I’m on. (Got that? Good.) I won’t name here but I’ll hint that “Tucks” are made to deal with it. Today I called the Dr.’s office because I wanted to know if a)he has the definitive solution/medication for the problem, or b)he wants to see me. When the nurse called back with his response, it was basically, eat roughage, drink more water, don’t strain, and avoid sitting. (My emphasis)

How on earth do you avoid sitting? I mean seriously, how can that even be a suggestion? I can do all the others. Those are easy. But avoid sitting? How am I going to get my work done? How will I watch TV? How will I drive to my endocrinologist appointment this afternoon?

Rain or Not Pt. 2

Today’s forecast for Thursday is…..scattered flurries! Well I didn’t even have that option listed in the pool!

I’m telling you, by Monday or Tuesday they should have that locked in, don’t you think?

So, Rain or Not?

When I wrote this morning’s entry, the prediction was for rain on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Right now they’re saying some showers Wedneday, then no rain on Thursday and Friday, although the temps will still be pretty low.

So let’s start a pool. Rain or no rain on Thursday?

Why are Weather Predictions so Flaky?

Late last week (either Friday or Saturday) we started to plan a day in Boston with Junior. We don’t go often enough, and because his dad is actually HOME from his extended business trip(s) to England, he was going to take a day off this week to make the trip.

So we looked over weather reports and determined that Thursday would be a better day than Friday, because it would be sunny and in the 50’s. Not as warm as Wednesday, which was supposed to push 80.

Today, I look at the weather on the same website, and not only are they saying it’s going to rain on Thursday, but the high will only be thirty-seven degrees. What the hell? And now they’re saying rain on Wednesday and the 80 degree day will be Tuesday. HOW can it change THAT MUCH in two days? I read about weather modelling, and how accurate it is, actually quite far in advance. I’m telling you, I don’t trust them to get tomorrow right anymore. And yes, normally I use Yahoo for my weather because it’s fed from weather.com, but I’m thinking that maybe, just maybe, they have hired monkeys to throw darts at a weather dartboard. This is ridiculous.

Flavor of the Day

I treated myself to the Bagel Inn this morning…I got a bagel and a cup of coffee to go. They didn’t have any of my favorite flavored coffees today so I went out on a limb and chose “mudslide”. It’s not going to kill me, but someone needs to explain to me why they think this tastes like a mudslide, my favorite alcoholic drink ever. I mean really, you’re kidding yourself if you think coffee flavoring product can simulate the creamy goodness of a real mudslide.

I think my day would be a LOT more interesting if I started it with a frozen mudslide, don’t you? Of course, my family would put my directly into rehab, but still.

===

In other news, wait, what was I going to say? I can’t remember. Maybe this IS a real mudslide! Woooooooo! Anyway, I think I’ll mail my state taxes out today. I got a refund from Federal, but owe $250 to state. It’s odd, I know there are ways to play with your Federal withholdings so that you don’t end up paying, but I don’t think there is any way to do that with State, is there? Oh well, I’m just glad I remembered that I have to mail it.

I swear, there was something else I was going to say, but it’s just lost forever.
