Normally, I Like LL Bean

Normally, I Like LL Bean. However, yesterday a new catelog arrived. And it’s the fall catelog. Fall. FALL.

Yes, thank you.

So I like fall as much as the next guy, but I’m getting too old to wish for time to fly by. I haven’t even been able to appropriately enjoy this summer, why would I want to wish it was already fall?

I thumbed through a couple of pages, but when I saw hats and gloves I was forced to fling the horrid thing across the room. I cannot and will not go glove shopping in July. Just no.

  1. On July 11, you said you love the internet … why are you still into this catalog thing that is obviously so distressing?

  2. I order via the internet…I can’t stop them from mailing me catelogs. Besides, what else can you keep int the bathroom in case you run out of TP?

  3. You won’t like me for what I am about to say. I received the LL. Bean Fall catalog also. I was thrilled! I love spring, autumn, and yes, winter; but,I absolutely can not stand summer! It isn’t the summer activities I hate, it is the damned humidity!! Fall of the year? Bring it on!

  4. Well if this is some indication, the squirrels (ala. rats with tails) at my house have been gathering nuts for last 2 weeks. Of course I get the leftover mess in the driveway to sweep.

I like summer. We are up to 4 ACs in our house now (when we moved here we had none for many years, how did we survive ?).

I did find a nice 10K btu roll around unit at Circuit City and put in the finished half of the basement. I made a panel for the casement window and plumbed it up. Works great. This morning added a condensation pump to pump the excess h20 outside. Now that I am all done I will jump in Spec Pond this pm of course.

Can’t stay inside on nice day like today.

  5. I too love fall, but I agree with Jody — I had a similar reaction when I got the fall Bean catalog. I got the following quote on a teabag once and try to live by it — apparently, those retail people didn’t get the memo, because I also got the fall J Jill:

“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air; drink the drink; taste the fruit.” — Henry David Thoreau

On the plus side? New Bean retail store opens in Burlington SEPTEMBER 1!

  6. I love Thoreau! I can taste the fruit, as I have rasberry and blackberry bushes all around my yard. I can also drink the drink. However, I cannot breathe the air; at least not outside. It was 97 degrees here yesterday, with 100% humidity. I believe, if he were living these days, even Thoreau would agree that in this extreme weather, it can be very difficult to breathe the air.

  7. Hey I used to go for swimming lessons at Spec Pond when I was a kid….

    small world. =)

And I’m definitely a fan of fall, and it’s cool crisp jacket weather and frosty mornings. Summer…not so much, heat makes me cranky (er).

And how come I didn’t get MY LL Bean catalog in the mail?

  8. I do not live there. JCC is no longer a day camp but for a few $$ you can swim there. Spec is amazing clean, all spring fed. Wish I did live near it. Have a good day.

  9. I got the same catalog but couldn’t look at it, even though I’m a shopoholic. Just can’t do it.
