Can’t Get Enough of the Dunkin Donuts Commercials?

Far be it for me to point out that iTunes has a They Might Be Giants free section (I think under Podcasts, I don’t have it in front of me) and you can download every single last one, including classics like Karate, Pleather, Things I Like to Do, and Plenty of Room. I know some people hate it but I like “Things I Like to Do”:

Things are what I like to do
Doing things is what I like to do
Things are what I like to do
No twiddling of Thumbs
I get everything done
I’m slightly more productive
Now than previous because
I’m slightly more efficient
Than I previously was
Doing things is what I like to do
Yes!
Doing things is what I like to do
Yes!

  1. It’s cute.

But when you hit your mid 50’s it becomes more a tune of “Things that I like to avoid doing”. The aches and pains start to take the fun out of “doing things”.

  2. Yes, that’s exactly where the free They Might Be Giants stuff is. I actually like the commercials. There are some they don’t show in my market (Philadelphia), like “Early Fishing”, “Tree” and “Things I Like To Do” (Philadelphians don’t get up early, do anything but hate other sports teams and we would beat our 8-year-old’s butt if he got stuck in a tree) but I saw them on the internet and I think they are well done.

  3. Ugh! If I never hear another one of these commercials, it’ll be just fine with me. I can’t believe TMBG does these. And to think I used to listen to them all the time in college, now they make me run screaming from the room.

And did anyone else think they were singing “plenty of rum” instead of “plenty of room”? Now that might get my to buy a smoothie.

Maybe it’s just because I watch the Red Sox every night, and I’m tired of seeing the commercials nine times a night…
