10,000 Steps a Day

Okay, I’m going to do it. I decided on my New Year’s Resolution, and it only took me two months. Maybe I can declare March 1st as Dumpy New Year. The Chinese have their own Calendar, maybe I can have one too!

So I read an article on the web about how if you take 10,000 steps a day, you’ll be healthier and lose weight. As someone who just cannot join a gym and actually use it, this sounds like it’s right up my alley. When I used to belong to a gym I would set the treadmill for twenty minutes but then switch to the calories burned view. After twenty minutes I often stayed on trying to round up the calorie numbers. And then do the “well, I can do another 10 calories” or whatever. Time didn’t work for me – but mileage and calories burned did.

So I ordered a pedometer from Amazon – doing research into the ones recommended by other people, etc., and I decided on the Omron HJ112 Premium. I’ll let you know what I think.
