Nope, Not This Year
The nail in the coffin for this year's NaNo Novel? Being offered real live cash money to write some articles. Now if you were me, what task would you pick? Killing yourself to write 18,000 words of a novel you hate that you know has no future, or writing some articles that will be seen by LOTS of people and might bring in offers for more articles, etc. etc.?
Number 2, hands down. So I don't have my final word count, I believe it was in the 33,000 range, which, let's face it, isn't THAT bad, considering I work full time, have a five year old, etc. So nope, didn't "win" for three years running, but I'm actually very much okay with that. I had a very relaxing weekend because the pressure to write like a maniac is off.
So what's next? Well, I think I'm going to pull out the latest additions (with the Scott Baio body double) and see what I can do with that. If any of it seems good, I'll post excerpts here. Fair enough?
