Flickr Users Will Understand

If you aren’t a regular user of Flickr, this will mean nothing to you. But for those who know, I noticed this morning that my badge over there on the right had a 4th circle, indicating that one of my photos was showing on the Explore pages. I’m interesting! I can’t tell you how hard it is to make that list. Most of the people on it are normally very very VERY good photographers. Or lucky.

Now my interestingness photo is from a long while ago, but I’m okay with that. It’s a photo from the Whalom Park group, of the Comet, and right now (Sunday Morning) it’s on this page:

  1. Congratulations Jody! That’s great. It’s wonderful that you are getting some recognition, every one of your photos that you’ve posted on your blog has gone into my “Shared Items” in Google Reader (which of course causes links to them to show up in my blog sidebar.) You have a great eye. (Two even!) I’m going to add your flickr feed to my google reader too. Loved “Dirty Lips” by the way.

Maybe I need to get on Flickr. I’ve been trying very hard to take better photos and trying to find interesting things to photograph, but I don’t get much commentary. I’ve been resisting the move to flickr because I already have so much invested on my blog (over 700 photos there).

I just announced a new album last week and specifically solicited comments, but it just ain’t happening. Looks like I’m just going to have to bite the bullet and switch to Flickr… I think my regulars just aren’t interested in photography. 🙂

  2. I don’t get a lot of comments on my photos over at Flickr, either. It’s just a way for me to store my stuff online, and if I’m lucky, get someone to say they like a shot or two. I don’t think you have to switch TO Flickr, unless you want to. I have learned a LOT just by reading the various groups/forums, and by finding pictures that I like, and that other people like. I’m using it to figure out some of the shots I want to try to take the next time I’m at Disney. You know, pretty standard stuff. If I had 700 photos stored on MY blog you can bet I wouldn’t be moving them!

  3. Congrats Jody !! Your shots are excellent. I am mainly too lazy to tote around my camera which is digital but the size of a regular 35mm. Jerry

  4. C’mon Jerry, that’s no excuse. And Chuck (and everyone) if you do get a flickr account to play around with, let me know what your user name is so I can add you as a contact. That way it emails me whenever you have new photos to look at.

  5. Hey Jody, my flickr account is PlasteredDragon. I already added you as a contact on my end.
