A little bit of Cape Cod for you...

The house we rented was located in Eastham, right over the Orleans border. I can't imagine there was a better house on the Cape. Now that I'm home, looking through the 300 or so pictures I took with my digital camera, there are so many pictures that I thought I took that I didn't. Like more of the house. I swear, I took more pictures of the house! Oh well, just an excuse to go back again, right?

This is the view from the deck of the house when the tide was out. A lot of that grass was under water at high tide. Behind the grass you can see the tidal pools in the sand bars.

A bit more close-up view of the sand bars. Looking at this, I'm guessing it was about an hour past low tide. (That's my sister and her family looking at little crabs and fish and picking up shells.)

When the tide was in, this rock was practically submerged. When the tide was out, it was surrounded by sand. We used this as a marker for the tide and where the house was when we were wandering out to sea. Those are real live trees in the background, used as channel markers for the little harbor to the left of our house. They have speed limit signs posted on them.

See how far out it was? (That's a boat coming in behind it.)

Sunset, with more of the rock exposed. The seagulls loved that rock – which is pretty much why it smelled to high heaven when you walked near it.

A couple of days I took a walk in the morning down to a town beach about ¾ of a mile to the right of the house. I went to go take pictures of the boats, and got to see lots of wildlife, especially fiddler crabs. Lots and lots of them.

Here's one. Man, these guys require you to stand absolutely still for 10+ minutes before they'll start coming out of their holes. It's like a prairie dog community out there.

These are the dirt balls they roll out of their holes.

The day I remembered to take my camera it was low tide. Missing from this photo, over to the right in the distance, is the tip of Massachusetts in Provincetown.

The boys played with their boats when the tide was coming in...that's “our” house all the way on the right, at the edge of the photo.

Thursday evening we took a sunset whale watch on the Portuguese Princess II.

You think you might see a while or two, and then you see a pod of 4 of them, and one of them decides he really wants to check out the boat and gets close. We saw all humpbacks and one minky whale. Well, I didn't see the minky because it was on the other side of the boat, but Mr. Dump did. (Photo by Junior)

Well hello there! (Photo by Junior)

I was psyched to find out I got a picture of the whale's nose.

The cool thing about a sunset cruise is, well, you get to take photos of the sunset. Here's a sailboat enjoying the wake from our boat.

This might be my favorite picture that I took the whole trip. It's a little fuzzy because of the resizing.

On the way back into the Provincetown harbor, past the lighthouse.

Close-er up of the lighthouse.

Not to be outdone, this is the sunset view from the deck of the house.
