Thanks

Thank you to everyone who took the time to write about the September 11th edition of the Big DumpTruck. In a perfect world, we would never ever have to create such somber web pages.

Many people just weren't ready to smile, never mind laugh in the past few weeks. It was only toward the end of last week that I began to laugh again. What helped a lot was my son. He's so young, he has no idea how the world changed on September 11th. We didn't watch the news with him around, and he's not in school to hear from classmates. In fact, last night was the very first time he saw an image from the aftermath, and he was very concerned about it. "Whoa, what happened there?" Daddy told him that a building fell down, and that people were working to clean things up and make them better again. "Oh, that's good."

It will be good, if it can happen. I don't know that we can make them better again. Different. But not better. In the meantime, people are being incredibly generous with their time, their money and anything that is needed. If you haven't yet, consider giving. The link below will let you donate to the Red Cross via Amazon. If you are already an Amazon customer, it's as easy as entering an amount and pressing a button.

I am Really Not Threatening

I was lucky enough to have to deal with flying last week. When I say that, people look at me with awe and wonder and tell me how brave I am/was. I look right back at them and say "I've spent almost $2000 on the flight, hotel and park tickets. Do you REALLY think I'm going to cancel after dreaming of this trip for 2 months? Do you REALLY think there is any way to tell my son we're not going?

Anyhoo, I'm happy to say that because I didn't take tweezers on the plane, I made it quickly and easily through security. Of course, on the way back my checked luggage was chosen to be "randomly searched". I am still praising the good Lord above that the bags chosen weren't the dirty clothes bag. Cause they pulled out every item, and, well, it was 90+ degrees, so those dirty clothes were, um, not anything you want to pull out and put on a table in front of a crowd.

I did learn that I should take more time packing. No tossing things randomly in the bag. Eek.

Spongebob Costume

I see a lot of people showing up here at the Big DumpTruck looking for a Spongebob Squarepants costume. Here are links my friend Nancy found:

http://www.anniescostumes.com/kids.htm

http://www.halloweencostumes4u.com/rub38589.htm

I don't know anything about this company or the quality of their service, but I did want to at least point people to a source. Thanks for the heads up, Nancy!

Rain?

I just read on the local paper's online edition that "Forecasters with the National Weather Service at Taunton said Leominster was the heaviest hit city in the state, much of which got only light rainfall throughout the day."

Go Leominster! You ROCK! You're WET!

If You Need a Smile

There are some funny funny photos available at the Daily Probe website, of the FBI's most wanted criminals. Trust me on this one.
