It's the Jody Show!

I'd like to send a shout out to my new fan club. I have heard from a few of you saying that you're enjoying watching The Jody Show. And Jon and Rachael, stop betting on what I'm going to do next. You aren't old enough to wager and I wouldn't want to have to turn you in to the state gaming commission.

You all have to understand that there are times I just don't want to be on camera, and that's why you will sometimes see a placeholder. Oh, and the camera is plugged in the parallel port, which I also need to burn CDs for work so sometimes I need to unplug it to earn a living. Other than that, I'm glad I'm amusing you all.

Fireplace Screen Saver

Do any of you have a screensaver you can recommend that would put a fireplace on my computer? I downloaded one shareware fireplace screen saver but the sound wasn't what I wanted. Because what I really want is the sound of fire. I want to be able to pretend that I have a crackling fire in my cubicle without bothering people with pesky smoke.

I did write to a fake log company that is supposed to have a free screensaver, but I couldn't download it. I wrote to their customer service people and I hope they think it's important enough to fix, but I'm just not sure.

On the other hand, I learned that my favorite fireplace logs are edible. Not that you'd want to eat one, but it's just sawdust and wax. Well, maybe not the type of log I'm buying, but they do have some fire starting logs that are listed as "Completely Nontoxic." This is from their FAQ:
Q. My child or pet has eaten a piece of a StarterLogg®. What should I do?
A. Relax. StarterLogg® is nontoxic and made of paraffin wax and sawdust. There are no added chemicals. As with any non-edible product, you should contact your physician or veterinarian.

So five bucks to the first person who eats a log and takes photos to prove it. And another five to someone who can come up with the fire sounds of my dreams.

Florence Henderson Loves My Local Carpet Store

I'm not really sure how it happened, but apparently a local carpet store (Acme Carpets) has hired Florence Henderson to do an ad for them. I almost fell out of my thinking chair. I thought it was going to be a generic ad like the one Terry Garr does for our local elevator radio station where they can just plug the call letters of the station in graphically at the end. But Ma Brady mentioned the store by name! EEEEEEEEEK!

I'm just wondering if she shops there often. Or if maybe she works there now. I used to see her on the TV Food Network occasionally, but it's been a while since I last spotted her. Maybe she's available to recommend a good shag for the rumpus room.

Snow

It snowed today. Oh man, it's just not supposed to snow in October. Of course it didn't stick but I had hoped to rake/mulch leaves this weekend, not sit inside watching the wind whip through the yard, blowing stuff over and blowing snow around!

I wish I wish it was going to be warmer for Halloween too. I am pretty sure this means we're only going to go to 3 houses if it's below 50 degrees. So we won't have a great variety to choose from, but then again maybe we'll have a lot of leftovers.

The Big DumpTruck Store

I placed an order for the sweatshirt and coffee cup from the Big DumpTruck store to test out the quality (I don't want to "sell" something if it's crappy.) I have to tell you how psyched I was over the quality! I have been wearing my sweatshirt all day, and yesterday I used the mug for my coffee...both work perfectly!
