August Hot and Damp

Sounds like a good title for a novel. I keep meaning to write one, of course. I've been reading quite a few, in an effort to stop watching so much TV. Well, sometimes I read with the TV on, but if you've been to my house you know that it's usually the Red Sox game so that doesn't really count. If I had the energy, I'd probably go back into the archives and try to figure out how many times I crabbed about the Red Sox in issues of the Big DumpTruck. I'm guessing there have to be at least a few references. I ran into one earlier today when I was cleaning up some of the archive files.

Oh, and as for the novels, I'm not posting the names of them here because, well, they aren't anything your local college would put on a required reading list, if you catch my drift. The one I'm reading now is only so-so but I MUST find out if Sam killed his wife, or if it was someone else who will be a complete surprise only to those who have never seen a TV movie or read a book in their lives. Sheesh.

Font Change

In my never-ending quest to get the byte size of each issue of the Dump down, I am trying out some minor font changes. See, I use Dreamweaver 3 (I haven't upgraded yet) and if I designate a font, for some reason it won't stick for the entire document, so every line ends up with a font tag with the face and size. That is a LOT of real estate. So I'm wondering if I can get the size down by simple giving in and using the "default font" setting instead of trying to force Arial, which is my preference.

And don't start recommending that I use a different editor, because I'm not changing. Nyah.

Cool Books for Cool Folks

I am on a search for some of the most interesting books on Amazon. I started looking up something fairly normal and ended up with some pretty danged interesting books in my basket. So there's now a link in the menu bar for "The Dump Zone" and that's the page where I'll put all my interesting finds. Yes, to be a true Dumper, you'll want to know about all the things I want, need and/or have already purchased. So far no squishy snow globes, but as soon as I get a link, it's there for YOU.

He Ate Cookies!

If anyone out there has been following the endless saga of "the child who only eats tan foods," we have added a NEW FOOD to his list! This is a big deal at our house, and I had to get on the phone and place several phone calls.

See, Mookie chooses to not eat anything. Last week he was heard to say of a peach-flavored beverage "If I drink that I will go to the hospital and never come home."

Oh.

Well, he doesn't like candy, or cakes or cookies, which makes people wonder if he has something in common with Sculley's alien baby. We finally got him to the point where he'll eat 10 +/- 3 bites of vanilla ice cream. But yesterday he actually ate Teddy Grahams cookies! I just looked them up on the web and this are fruit punch flavored ones. "Mixed Beary." Now suddenly I am wondering why on earth a child will refuse perfectly good chocolate chip cookies but eat something that is fruit punch flavored. I don't think I'm ever going to figure this out.
