More Snow

I'm done with the snow already. It's been gray here for at least 7 of the last 9 days. Today is more of the same. With the added bonus of sleet. I can't tell you how much I need a nice sunny day with temps in the 40's. Or 50's. I think that's probably pushing it, though.

The Floor.

Why is washing the kitchen floor my least favorite activity in the universe? I'd ratherscrub the tub and both toilets 20 times before washing the floor. It doesn't seem like it should be that way, but it is. In fact, I need to do it now. Having a four-year-old means never having a clean floor, especially in winter. I think we did a good job of training him to never walk with "squeaky shoes" meaning if he makes a squeak he runs back to take off whatever he's got on, but still.

Oh well, here I am updating the dump instead of washing the floor. See what I mean?

For future reference, if I was going to redo the floor, I'd pay any price to buy whatever it is that hides dirt the best. I'm pretty sure a dirt floor is going to be the solution.

Dial-Up is Deadly

Ugh, I hate my dial-up connection. How on earth can I survive without DSL? I can't believe I don't have any way to get a faster connection to the universe than 28.8 (which is usually closer to 26 with our phone lines). I have a faster modem...my phone lines were apparently laid by Thomas Edison himself.

I may have complained about this in the past, but now it's more of an issue because I'm home all day. I upgraded my ISP service so I now have unlimited hours, which is good because the other day when I was job hunting I was online for 8 straight hours.

If any of you work for Verizon and you want me to love you the rest of my life, can you help me out here?

Birthday Wishes

Happy Happy birthday to decade-old Rachael!! Was it really 10 years ago? I'm pretty sure it was only 5. Cause I can't be ten years older than I was the day you were born, right?

Mike the Fish

Mike loves me. It is really cool, actually, because he's a betta and they are very personable, as long as you aren't another fish. Mike the Fish comes over to see me whenever I go over to the tank. Do you know how cool it is to have a fish that acts even remotely like he knows who you are? He only does this for me right now, but that's probably because he sees me the most. Luckily, my son thinks he's coming over to see him when we both feed Mike the Fish in the morning and at night. Here are a couple of crappy pictures from the webcam, now back up and running. I think I'll try to put him on at least a few times a week, in case anyone stops by to see what's up on the cam.
