Halfway Through the Shortest Month

I don't think I'm alone when I say thank GOODNESS February is almost over. And by almost, I mean, 2 days past the halfway point. I'm not a big fan of this month, and really need a sixty degree day right about now. It's nice today, and I'm starting this update in the morning but I can tell you right now that I'm about to go out and won't even be looking at this page again for at least 8 hours. I need to soak up some nice sunshine, my friends.

Back later: Yep, it was fantastic out! I spent the whole day wandering without a coat. I think at 5pm I saw a sign on the bank that it was 48. I am soooo digging that. I intended to stop for ice cream but forgot. Oh well, I guess I didn't really need it. But it would have really made the day complete. Oh, hey, we have some Light Vanilla ice cream in the freezer! I'm going to treat myself! I hope we have some canned peaches around here to dump on top. Mmmm.

Red Wine

I don't normally drink red wine because I do get the traditional red win headache. Not pleasant. But I was cooking stew the other day, and all stew recipes call for red wine. I suppose to make the broth nice and dark. I remembered a bottle that we had on the bookshelf, so I opened it. I poured a bit into a glass to taste it, in case it had turned; I didn't want to ruin the stew. Then with horror I realized I was drinking a glass of wine at ten thirty in the morning. As one of my friends pointed out, "So this is what happens when you lose your job, huh?"

Oh My Word. That sip of wine was so good that I had another one, just to make sure I wasn't imagining it. Nope. It was GoooOOooood. I still don't drink red wine, but if I do, I'm buying this one again. I hear it's not cheap, but who cares. Here's what kind it is, so you can be just like me: Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Villages Red Burgundy table wine. This bottle is from 1999. Ymmmm. The stew was good too.

Trading Spaces

Yep, always one to jump on a bandwagon late, I am now addicted to TLC's Trading Spaces show. I grabbed it on the TiVo based on at least three other people telling me how great it was. I would have watched it live but what's the point of that when you have a TiVo? Also, I don't turn on the TV during the day, because I don't want to get into that habit of wasting the whole day watching television. Rots your brain, they tell me.

So now I'm in love with this show. I saw one the other night where I absolutely HATED the room (the Pullman car blue room?) and man, I would have killed anyone who did that to my bedroom. But you know, if someone gave me $1000, I'd be happy to take 48 hours out of my life to do some redecorating. I wonder if buying Amy's time counts toward the thousand bucks? Seems unfair if it doesn't. I couldn't build a coffee table by myself in 48 hours. I don't think I could do it in 48 DAYS.

Mike the Fish

Hey, he's still alive! It's been over a month, and not only is he still alive, but I've figured out how much food he needs, and the water is looking amazingly clean! I feel like I should apply for a job at the New England Aquarium!

Actually, it's funny I say that [no, really] because a few weeks ago I saw a job posting from them that I thought maybe I'd be a little qualified for but I don't think I want to drive all the way to the Aquarium every day.

What's in the CD Player in my Van?

Erasure's The Innocents.
