TGIFFfffffffff......

I remembered to bring a ballpoint pen with me today. Today is timesheet day, and I have to fill out this 5-part SAT-like form. I fill in little circles to represent my social security number and the number of hours I worked. Very retro.

But with 5 copies, you can't use just any old pen, and for the past two weeks I've had to borrow one. This time, I'm prepared.

Just playing again. Kind of funny, only a week or two ago (what the hell day was that?) I put up a picture of snow. I like this better, to be honest. This is one of my pansies. Or violas. Or johnny-jump-ups. I should figure out what it is. They're small.

Bad Meat Loaf

I got meat loaf in the cafeteria today. I know, bad Jody. But I haven't had it in SO long, and, well, I couldn't resist.

I should have. Blech. Blech. What the hell did they make it with? I'm so disappointed. AND hungry, cause I just can't eat it. I guess I'll go supplement with some pretzels or something.

God bless the frozen food industry. And while we're at it, the major appliance industry.

Junior fell asleep on the living room floor at about 6pm, which means I'm in for the night. I didn't go the grocery store this weekend because of a fear of crowds (although apparently everyone in this area went elsewhere for the weekend because the roads were NOT bad at all). So then I'd been planning to treat myself to a small hamburg and mushroom pizza, or maybe even just mushroom. But see, he fell asleep. I can't leave the house if he's asleep. And I'm so tired from doing yardwork all day (yea me!) that I think I'm right behind him. Anyway, I started poking around in the freezer and found a California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizza! You cannot believe the joy this just gave me. It's in the oven right now. 15 minutes from now...heaven.

Oh man, I have to order this book. Baby's First Tattoo : A Memory Book for Modern Parents, which you can use to keep track of things like Baby's first ritalin prescription, and baby's first lawyer.

After a dip into 4th place, I'm back in 3rd again. I have no idea if my team will get their crap back together and let us head for 2nd place. We'll see.

It looks like rain today, which is too bad, I need to mow the lawn. Otherwise, another boring day at the Dump House.

I TOLD you my tentative grasp on first place in my Yahoo fantasy baseball league would end soon. I'm now in third place, trailing a person who visits the website so infrequently that for a week now she's been playing two guys who are on the DL. That's right, she's beating me and she's down two guys. THAT is what I expected. *sigh*

I finally gave Mike the Fish's tank a good scrubbing, top to bottom. He's back in, and I think he's okay. Once again, I'll keep an eye on him, but at least everything is scum-free.

I'm eating a really crunchy radish right now. It's not a burning one, which is good. I'm wondering...who decided, ages ago, that radishes were good to eat? I mean, really, they taste kind of nasty compared to, say, a carrot. I should try to find radish nutritional info. Maybe it's a safe food to add to the zero calorie pickle diet I mentioned way back in the dump.

When I was a kid I was really into planting radishes in my dad's garden. I think because they were low maintenance, and barring a accident, would pretty much grow on cue.

Oh, and the ranch dressing here gets two thumbs up. I don't know what brand these food services use, but I can't get it in the grocery story, cause I have certainly tried them all.

Oh ya! Friend of the Dump "Rick" sent a link to free typewriter fonts. How I love fonts. I love typewriters. On my Mac (a million or so years ago, when it was my only 'puter) I had a utility that made a typewriter sound for every keystroke. A memory hog, but I loved it.

In college I was the only person who could fall asleep to the sound of my roommate typing.

Ah, this is the kind of fun news I like to read on a Sunday evening. Yahoo! News - Cheney: Attacks Almost a 'Certainty'. I would prefer there to not be any attacks, thank you. I don't have my bomb shelter built.

You know, it did occur to me when I was working in Boston two weeks ago that being in the financial district of a big city made me feel more target-like. I actually looked at the little exit chart to see where stairs were. I don't normally do that, but I also don't normally work in a high rise on State Street. I feel quite a bit safer now that I'm in Worcester.

Rain, and 48 degrees. Actually, freezing rain and hail. Great fun. I'm sooooo excited. I was going to go pick out some geraniums (maybe two plants) and some pansies but I don't want to have to have them in the house. I guess I'll go out next week some time.

Looks like James Lileks did a redesign. Man, I love this guy. I have a couple of his books on my wish list at Amazon. I already own two, but that just isn't enough.

Go here, but I warn you, if you aren't supposed to be surfing the net, do NOT read the Intitute of Official Cheer at work. I pulled something trying not to laugh out loud, and finally sent the URL to all my coworkers so I wouldn't be the only one laughing.

Oh, and while I'm thinking about it, have you been to the daily probe lately? If not, check out this list of new Star Wars characters...

Another blogger problem and yesterday's entry got fried. Oh well. I'm sure it wasn't Nobel Prize-worthy.

I'm pretty sure I crabbed about how hot it is where I'm sitting in the building, but even as I type this I think the temperature is dropping from maybe 80 or so to something slightly more reasonable. I was feeling ill from the heat, and it was making me sleepy, but I feel better now. Oh, and I also got a good, full night's sleep, and that helped. I haven't been sleeping well at ALL lately, and I know that your body will only take that kind of abuse for so long.

Okay, so I'm done my lunch, and I have my huge cup of rootbeer...back to the grind!

It's good to be employed at a place with a cool cafeteria. I haven't quite worked out whether or not it's okay to eat at your desk (what I typically do) because of the "stink factor" of the food. Today I got a slice of pizza for the low stink factor, when in fact there was a pasta dish made with chicken, olives and feta that looked much more interesting. But I didn't want people freaking out that the new girl was eating at her desk if nobody sitting in this area does. Oh, and I am physically 7 steps from the cafeteria, which in a building this size is saying a lot.

More later. (*waving to the BDT fans sitting across my cubicle wall*)

I wrote an update to the Dump yesterday and I cannot update it at all. I have no idea why Dreamweaver won't connect to the site. *sigh*

Nevermind, I played around with some settings on the server and I'm in again. So I'm leaving the date from yesterday. Silly computers.

Great day off today, but I had a 10-item "to do" list and only did half of an item. I did get to the tire store for my "rotation" but the guy refused to rotate my tires because they said it would be wasting my money. I apperently need a new set of tires. This is NOT what I wanted to hear this morning. *sigh*

Best Present Ever: My son came up to me and admitted he had done something that I knew he had done but he denied for about 2 months. I mean, I wonder what triggered him to tell me this morning? I don't care, I think it was really cool that he did it.

I'm working from home today. Got my iced coffee and my scanner, I'm ready to rock and roll. And the nice thing is that I can come in and out of the house without having to call someone to come and let me in. And the bathroom is much closer to my desk. See, it's win-win for me!

You know, it gets more and more interesting at my house. Last night, while eating a wonderful homecooked meal {cough cough} Junior points to an empty chair at the table and says "Jesus is sitting there. He's invisible. Grandma told me."

And then he told me the joke that Jesus told him. Apparently Jesus isn't so good with a joke.

Wow, just noticed that two days in a row I crabbed about Alewife. I shouldn't do that. It's a lovely subway station. Plus you always get a seat on the way in to the city, seeing as it's the end of the line.

But still, it would work better if I was the only one there trying to leave at night.

Gotta run, there's a new Spongebob Squarepants on. Oh, that reminds me, in this month's Nickelodeon Magazine has an interview with Tom Kenny, Spongebob's voice. He also plays patchy the pirate, is Dog in Catdog, and is the narrator for Powerpuff Girls.

WAIT! WHat the hell is this??! Where is the new episode!??? I'm really not happy right now!

Picked up the new Alanis Morrisette CD over the weekend (on sale, silly...I wanted something new for the car for my short term horrible commute) and I do really like it. Thumbs up.

Oh, by the way, I got a rebate check from Staples for some office supplies I bought. I guess they trust the mailmen and women of America. They mail the check, and the check itself arrives like a postcard. No envelope. Just a check with some postage info on the top right. So anyone could take it and try to cash it. Seems like a silly way to mail a check, but it got to me and that's ALL I care about.

Happy Monday, everyone. I'm working from home today, on two different projects. Well, one is almost done, but it still counts. I am busy typing, scanning, you name it. I'm still getting mega Linky and Dinky traffic...don't have a clue how many are returning visitors, but hey, I'm just happy to have everyone stop by.

I'm glad I did my yardwork yesterday because I am going to be FLAT OUT the rest of the week. That's a switch! I'm not even sure I'm all that crazy about being so busy, but a gal's gotta put Diet Pepsi in the fridge one way or another.

Well, it's a banner day, and I've hit a new record for hits to the main Dump Page. I think I'll celebrate with pizza. (Okay, that's just an excuse.)

Also, I hate mowing the lawn. And I suck at it. I didn't think it was possible to suck at mowing the lawn, but it is. I don't know the meaning of straight lines, for one thing. I realized my entire front lawn is at an angle, and the weight of the mower makes it want to go downhill. Gravity, you see. Well, that makes for some seriously funky lines on my lawn. My neighbors has the perfect vertical lines in it. I look like I flunked "coloring inside the lines 101."

Welcome Linky & Dinky fans. Holy mackeral, there are a lot of you. My hit count at noon is already 10 times what I get on a slow to average day. That's a lot of people reading email on a Sunday morning....

Okay, no more putting it off. I have to go mow the lawn.

Looks like another great day! I wonder what time it's okay to mow the lawn on a Sunday. I'm guessing that right now (almost 10am) is just fine. Except I don't feel like doing it right now.

I think I'll go out and get a coffee. Maybe that will help.

What a nice day! It was great to get temperatures back up in the sixties again. I think maybe it's going to stick this time, and we won't have to deal with snow until maybe next December or so. And I'm FINE with that.

I pulled the cover off the grill and did up some steak. It's always a scary thing to uncover the grill, and today was no exception. About three hornets, one of them still alive but in sad shape. I had to throw a frisbee on him. You know, to put him out of his misery. TAKE THAT, PETA!

More rain. Well, maybe I'll get more work done inside. Per recent posts on my goal of cleaning up the house, I did recently clear off yet one more surface in the house. So that's 3 down, 4000 to go, right? I also picked up more plastic bins. I own more of those darned things.

Oh wait, I also tidied up my office supplies too. They aren't gone, but they are tidied. After cleaning 4-5 more areas, I might have a spot for it. Oh, and I dropped of a load of junk at my moms in anticipation of a future yard sale. She has a garage to store it all in, I don't.

My freelance company BirchBark Writing Services seems to be picking up steam. That's a good thing, for those of you keeping score.

In other news, I wrote this update almost two hours ago and it didn't show up in the Blog yet. This has happened a bunch of times in the past week or so. Makes me thing some code changed somewhere along the line.

Temps are holding at about 60 here. I was going to work outside today but it's danged windy and the work I'm doing involves many many pieces of paper and chasing them all over the yard does NOT sound fun.
